Powerful Network, Server & Cloud Monitoring

Overview

ServicePilot ISM is a fully integrated IT monitoring solution, providing both availability and performance management through an optimized platform with unrivalled ease of integration for fast, low cost deployment and operation.

Thanks to its ready-to-use packaging for immediate results, its open interfaces for advanced integration of any script results, and its powerful reporting system, ServicePilot ISM answers every need of both enterprises and service providers:

  • How to get an overall and unit vision of delivered services?
  • What are the availability and performance levels of the infrastructure?
  • How to detect and manage the infrastructure changes?
  • What is the root cause of apparent problems?
  • Who is affected by the degradations?
  • How long will it take before the infrastructure to be degraded or saturated?
  • What are the reports available for the enterprise management?

Key benefits

As an integrated solution, ServicePilot ISM allows operators to achieve more with less financial and human resources:

  • Scalable and flexible licensing with modular structure (up to tens of thousands of polled objects without any licensing disruption)
  • License adapted to the infrastructure, not to required features
  • Low-cost hardware pre-requisite (PC based, Windows OS)
  • Operates in share environment (VMware compatibility)
  • Easy and fast to deploy, configure and maintain
  • Easy correlation between events and performance degradations
  • Automation of change management and provisioning

Easy integration through hundreds of pre-defined and customizable packages

ServicePilot Technologies has developed packages for most available technologies. With only a few mouse clicks, a package configures ServicePilot ISM for the supervision of different technologies, and creates all the necessary classes for equipment supervision.

Collectors

Multi-vendor, multi technology support

ServicePilot ISM thrives in complex and heterogeneous infrastructures. This is an ideal solution for the management of multi-vendor and multi-technology environments, and end-to-end performance analysis including server, network and VoIP monitoring.

Architecture

ServicePilot ISM's software architecture is based on a manager with collecting agents:

  • ServicePilot ISM manager ensures collection and valuation of indicators, result archiving and information restitution
  • Agents can be locally or remotely installed and communicate with ServicePilot ISM through the IP network

ServicePilot ISM uses object-oriented technology and groups infrastructure components by classes. This original class-based concept enables ServicePilot ISM users to meet their operational objectives out-of-the box, as soon as ServicePilot ISM is deployed.

ServicePilot ISM is an open solution and can be used as a whole, or interfaced with other monitoring solutions such as HP Network Node Manager, IBM Netcool, etc. It can also interwork with other OSS systems, such as trouble ticketing, inventory management, etc.

Features

Alarm and Correlation: for alarm notification on threshold overrun, and event filtering, correlation and synchronization of information sources, and generation of external or external actions
Performance Analysis and capacity planning: for global IT and telecommunication infrastructures, with measurements of all components that impact service delivery to end-users and customers, current delivery detail for the infrastructure, and trends and projections for future capacity needs and investments. ServicePilot Technologies’ solution is able to perform an analysis of network resource and server consumption, as well as application response times.
SLA Monitoring and Reporting: for easy SLA configuration and calculation. Rich SLA reporting capabilities for trend analysis, and intuitive identification of SLA-endangering issues help Managed Service Providers and Operators to ensure 100% SLA compliance, minimize the financial risk of SLA breaches and improve customer loyalty. Enterprise and Government are able to control their operator-fulfilled contractual commitments, improve their internal communication and justify their IT investments.
Device & Interface auto discovery Device & Interface auto discovery: ServicePilot ISM Discovery feature enables the automatic discovery of network infrastructure resources and offers synchronization capabilities with the monitored network topology. Based on network discovery via SNMP queries (v1, v2c, CDP (Cisco)), ServicePilot ISM Discovery offers step by step discovery (from a site entry or by address range scan), de-duplication of devices with multiple connections, inclusion and exclusion of address ranges.
SNMP collection: ServicePilot ISM collects standard indicators coming from SNMP agents (routers, switches, servers, etc.). ServicePilot ISM natively integrates standard MIBs (RFC1213-MIB2, RFC1514-HOST, etc.) and vendor MIBs (Cisco, HP, etc.). In order to meet every specific needs, ServicePilot ISM includes a MIB browser able to recognize private as well as public MIBs, expanding therefore its operating capabilities.
API Collection: for collection and easy and fast integration of third party product and/or specific customer metrics.
Failover Clustering: to ensure a very high availability of 99.9999%.
Trap & Syslog Collection: for receiving, logging, displaying, alerting, and forwarding syslog and SNMP trap messages from network devices, such as routers, switches, servers, and other syslog and trap-enabled devices.
Mapping: for real-time analysis of infrastructure availability and performance and business impact navigation by geography, technology and business areas.
Monitoring: to ensure optimal IT availability and performance.
The collection of faulty indicators of a device does not give the means to measure the end-to-end service level. ServicePilot ISM offers technical AND service views of the infrastructure, enabling IT managers to monitor their infrastructure according to their needs - by technology (routers, switches, servers, etc.), by geographical location, by enterprise business (HR, accounting, sales, etc.) - with the same product.
Diagnosis: to provide users and administrators with the major network diagnosis tools and administration commands of ServicePilot ISM applications
User Portal: for user interface customization according to needs
Security: for access security and user profile management

FAQs

ServicePilot ISM license is granted by physical machine. ServicePilot ISM must be installed on one single computer only. The key is calculated according to the machine MAC address.

The granted license is limited to monitoring simultaneously a limited number of computer equipment (objecvts and/or IP phones).

It is not allowed to make a copy of all or part of ServicePilot ISM, except for a single copy for backup purpose. This backup copy remains ServicePilot Technologies’ property..

ServicePilot ISM software architecture is based on a license, installed on a Windows Server and collecting agents, if needed, which can be installed, on the same or a remote server.

ServicePilot Technologies proposes 5 types of bundles.

  • ServicePilot ISM MSP Bundle

Object concept: the object is the logical element supervised by ServicePilot ISM.

Supervised objects belong to 4 Class types:

  • Ping
  • SNMP
  • SNMP Table
  • Custom

Properties associated to object are limited. The bulk of properties is associated with the class (see definition below) which it inherited.

Main properties of an object are:

  • Name
  • Associated class
  • Status (managed/unmanaged)
  • IP address (Option)
  • SNMP community (Option)
  • SNMP port (Option)
  • SNMP index (Option)

Class concept: A single class is assigned to each object. Supervised objects take color of the status in which they are.

A class is a set of common properties (graphs, indicators and controls) attributed to ServicePilot ISM objects.

ServicePilot ISM provides pre-defined classes for the most common equipments on the market. ServicePilot ISM user-friendly interface allows to easily modifying a pre-defined class or creating a new one with very specific and configurable criterias.
