End-to-End Application Performance Management (APM)

The ServicePilot APM solution provides both breadth and depth to enable IT organization and service providers to meet their service level objectives. It provides the following capabilities to proactively monitor end-to-end application performance:

  • Ability to monitor the end-user experience and generate alerts on SLA response time violations
  • Provide real-time and historical application performance, business views, and SLA reports per application
  • Collect detailed traffic flow and IP trace date for forensic-level reporting and analysis
  • Capacity planning and trend analysis to anticipate constraints and patterns before they impact users
  • Accelerate troubleshooting and remediation of incidents resulting in response time degradation
  • Identify risky behavior, such as intrusion attempts

The tools in the ServicePilot solution monitor applications running on a wide range of real and virtualized IT infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, System z mainframes, web/app servers, database servers, storage, as well as other services upon which the application's logic depends. The tools also collect details regarding traffic flows and IP traces to provide the necessary depth of information required for rapid problem resolution, intrusion detection, trend analysis, etc.

Application Performance Overview

This multi-dimensional APM solution features powerful reporting and consists of three product components:

  • ISM Enterprise: Service assurance for real and virtualized infrastructures: networks, servers, applications and databases. Includes capacity planning reports for proactive APM.
  • ServicePilot 360: Forensic real-time monitoring of all network traffic; supports NetFlow, IPFIX, jFlow and sFlow
  • NBA for z/OS: End-to-end mainframe application monitoring tool for TCP/IP; supports z/OS v1.1 to v1.12

APM in virtualized environment creates an added dimensions of complexity. ISM Enterprise works in conjunction with ServicePilot 360 to provide an integrated solution for distributed environments. NBA for z/OS provides monitoring, alerting, reporting, behavior analysis, and TCP/IP tracing of all LPARS with a single logon.
