What is NRPE LDAP Status?

LDAP, or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, is an open standard application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services over an IP network. NRPE, or Nagios Remote Plugin Executor, is an addon that allows you to execute Nagios plugins on remote Linux/Unix machines.

The NRPE LDAP status refers to the status of the LDAP service as reported by the NRPE addon. This can provide valuable insights into the health and performance of the LDAP service which can be collected and analyzed in the ServicePilot interface.

How to monitor LDAP Status with NRPE and ServicePilot?

This package is designed to run an NRPE LDAP check and capture its alarm status using NRPE.

This package can be customized to return the status of a check_ldap NRPE command. The status values OK, WARNING, CRITICAL and UNKNOWN.

The appmon-nrpe-ldap package will support remote NRPE with or without SSL encryption. At the moment only unencrypted connections to the NRPE Agent are supported.

The NRPE LDAP Status package currently works only on Linux platforms.

How to install a nrpe-ldap resource?

1. Use your ServicePilot OnPremise installation or a SaaS account.
2. Add a new nrpe-ldap resource via the web interface (/prmviews or /prmresources) or via API (/prmpackages page), the default ServicePilot agent or another agent will be provisioned automatically.
