What is DHCP?

DHCP (acronym for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a network management protocol whereby a DHCP server dynamically assigns an IP address and other network configuration parameters to devices in order to communicate with other IP networks. The DHCP operates based on the client–server model on UDP/IP networks.
