What is Mesosphere DC/OS?
The DataCenter Operating System, also known as DC/OS, is an open source distributed operating system based on Apache Mesos aiming to facilitate container scheduling and cluster management or orchestration. It is developed by Mesosphere, Inc. and is distributed under the Apache License 2.0 License.
Mesosphere DC/OS was created to provide 4 functionalities for shared cluster management:
- Resource sharing
- Data sharing
- Programming abstractions
- Debugging and monitoring
A Mesosphere DC/OS architecture is made of several components providing distinct functionalities, such as the Admin Router, which is the internal load balancer or Exhibitor, the Java Zookeeper supervisor... all to simplify distributed systems management and hybrid orchestration.
DC/OS Mesosphere monitoring
This package monitors a Mesosphere DC/OS environment.
This package automatically configures the ServicePilot Agent in order to monitor availability and performance of Mesosphere DC/OS from Mesos Metrics Module.
The statistics gathered in this way include:
- Host: metrics about the specific node which is part of the DC/OS cluster such as CPU, filesystem capacity or inode, memory and more
- Container: metrics about cgroup allocations from tasks running in the DC/OS Universal Container Runtime or Docker Engine runtime such as CPUs, Disk, memory or network statistics
- Application: metrics about a specific application running inside the Universal Container Runtime
