What is a Zabbix Linux Server agent?
Zabbix is an open-source monitoring software developed by Zabbix LLC. It was created in 1998 and is developed in C, PHP, and Java programming languages. It is published under the GPL V2 license.
A Linux Zabbix agent installed on a Linux or Unix server can be used to send monitoring data to ServicePilot. This data can provide valuable insights into server performance and health, helping administrators to maintain optimal server operation.
How to monitor Linux Servers with Zabbix and ServicePilot?
ServicePilot makes it easy to monitor Zabbix by simply adding a Zabbix agent plugin on the target Linux machine. A corresponding resource of the server-linux-zabbix package then needs to be added via the ServicePilot web interface to receive information from the Zabbix Agent.
The monitoring statistics gathered in this way include:
- System: CPU and Memory utilization
- Storage: disk utilization
- Network: interface status and utilization
- Applicative: process status and resource consumption
How to install a linux-zabbix resource?
- Use your ServicePilot OnPremise installation or a SaaS account.
- Add a new linux-zabbix resource via the web interface (
/prmviews
or/prmresources
) or via API (/prmpackages
page), the default ServicePilot agent or another agent will be provisioned automatically.
Details of the linux-zabbix package are located in the
/prmpackages
page of the software.
