What is a MIB-II Interface?
MIB-II Interface (Management Information Base II interface) is a standard SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) database structure for network device management. MIB-II interfaces are crucial for providing insights into the network's operational state by capturing standard information such as incoming and outgoing packet rates, error rates, and the status of network interfaces.
How to monitor a MIB-II Interface?
ServicePilot makes it very easy to monitor MIB-II Interfaces. Simply configure the SNMP settings of the MIB-II Interface enabled device. Then use the ServicePilot web interface to add a resource from the ServicePilot network-mib-ii-interface package.
The monitoring statistics gathered in this way include amongst others:
- Loads (In Load and Out Load)
- Traffics (In Traffic and Out Traffic)
- Discards (In Discard and Out Discard)
- Errors (In Error and Out Error)
- Speeds in 32 or 64 bits (In Speed and Out Speed)
How to install a mib-ii-interface resource?
- Use your ServicePilot OnPremise installation or a SaaS account.
- Add a new mib-ii-interface resource via the web interface (
/prmviews
or/prmresources
) or via API (/prmpackages
page), the default ServicePilot agent or another agent will be provisioned automatically.
Details of the mib-ii-interface package are located in the
/prmpackages
page of the software.
