What is NGINX?
NGINX is an Open Source web server developed by Nginx, Inc, and distributed under a BSD-like license. It was written with the goal to replace Apache HTTP Server performance wise. This Web server can also be used as a reverse proxy, load balancer, proxy server or HTTP cache application. Nginx Plus is the commercial offering based on Nginx software.
The Open Source version is widely used in enterprise environments and Open Source projects, often seen as the logical replacement of, or as a complementary reverse proxy for, Apache HTTP web server. It is the most deployed Dockerized application component and a central piece of any LNMP stack (and other XNMP stacks).
