What is NGINX?
NGINX is an Open Source web server developed by Nginx, Inc, and distributed under a BSD-like license. It was written with the goal of replacing Apache HTTP Server with better performance. This Web server can also be used as a reverse proxy, load balancer, proxy server or HTTP cache application. Nginx Plus is a commercial offering based on Nginx software.
The Open Source version is widely used in enterprise environments and Open Source projects, often seen as the logical replacement of, or as a complementary reverse proxy for, an Apache HTTP web server. It is the most deployed in Dockerized application component and forms a central piece of any LNMP stack (and other XNMP stacks).
